Natalie Vaughan-Sanders
Kia ora koutou
My name is Natalie Vaughan-Sanders, and I am excited to be standing for re-election to the Karori Normal School (KNS) board. I am the chair of the KNS board, and it has been an absolute privilege being on the board for the last three years.
I have three tamariki at KNS, Oscar (year 8), Frankie (year 6), and Gus (year 3). My focus for the next term (should I be re-elected) is to provide continuity to the governance of our school, with a number of board members moving on as their children will be at college next year, and our new Principal, Caro, having just settled in at the start of this year.
My goal for KNS is that we continue to lift the teaching and learning performance across the school and that we provide an environment where all of our tamariki feel safe, confident and able to achieve. I know from my last term on the board that we have an incredibly caring and dedicated staff and our role as the board is to continue to support them to succeed.
I am a lawyer, with particular expertise in governance, so I understand the important role of a school board to ensure it meets its legislative obligations. As a board, one of our responsibilities is to set the direction and targets for our kura. This is a really rewarding process to be involved in as we consult with you, our community, to ensure KNS is meeting all our children’s needs.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending my time with (or rather, running around after!) my children, baking, running and mountain biking in the hills of Karori.
Ngā mihi maioha,
Natalie
