Voting: how it works
Voting is open 20 August - 17 September
Want the short version? Here it is in 3 points:
You get 5 votes - one for each of the parent rep positions (check your junk mail if you haven't received the voting link!)
You don't have to use all of them - but you absolutely should
We've done the hard work for you! See here for our suggested line up of top-notch people
Slightly longer version
Every 3 years all state schools in New Zealand go through an election process for the Boards that govern them.
The current composition of the Board at KNS is like this:
5 parent representatives (including the Chair, who is also sometimes called the Presiding Member)
1 co-opted member
2 staff representatives (currently the Principal and Deputy Principal)
The 5 parent representatives are the elected positions you get the chance to influence. You get 5 votes, one for each of the open positions.
Voting is going to be online this year and is available from 20 August. You should receive an email on 20 August with a unique link allowing you to vote. If that date has passed and you haven't seen it, check your junk mail! It will be from a company called Elections Pilot. Don't panic, you have until 17 September to use the link.
You don't have to use all of those votes, but you absolutely should. We get it: maybe you know one or two of the candidates but none of the rest, and it feels wrong to just vote at random. Allow us to help you! We have looked into this and identified the team who we back to lead the school constructively and well for the next 3 years.
People always say "every vote counts". But in school board elections, you really are one of just a handful of people who can swing the outcome. Don't waste your votes!
If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up and we'll do our best to help you.
