Sebastiaan Pronk
My name is Sebastiaan Pronk, and I am the proud father of two daughters currently attending Karori Normal School. Our family moved to New Zealand from Manchester, UK, in 2023, and we have been warmly welcomed into the Karori community. I am passionate about contributing to the continued success of the school and supporting its mission to provide a nurturing and high-quality educational environment.
I firmly believe that a solid education is foundational. This obviously goes for academic achievement but also for the broader development of confident, curious, and resilient individuals. Schools play a vital role in shaping the skills, values, and opportunities that children carry with them throughout life, and I am committed to helping Karori Normal School maintain and enhance its standards in this regard.
Prior to relocating to New Zealand, I served for five years as a school governor in the UK, including as Chair of the Finance Committee. This experience gave me a strong understanding of school governance, strategic planning, and financial stewardship. I worked closely with school leadership to ensure resources were effectively allocated to support student outcomes.
Professionally, I work as a cybersecurity consultant, helping organisations protect their digital assets and manage risk. I bring a strong analytical mindset, a commitment to transparency, and a focus on safeguarding both physical and digital environments—skills I believe are increasingly relevant in today’s educational landscape.
I would be honoured to serve on the Board of Trustees and contribute my experience, energy, and perspective to support the school’s continued growth and success.
